About the Children’s Champion award

Our Children’s Champion is selected based on their unique attributes, achievements and contributions to child victims of trafficking.

In particular, we are looking for those who demonstrate the following competencies that are central to ECPAT UK’s values:

  • Child centredness – by this we mean behaviours and environments which respect children and young people as active agents in their own lives with rights to be and feel protected, to be provided for and to actively participate in all matters affecting them
  • Kindness – by this we mean actions, behaviour and communication that is devoid of judgement and actively shows an understanding of the impact of trauma, abuse and other life experiences
  • Advocacy – by this we mean standing up with and for children and young people in the face of adverse and hostile systems and decision makers to ensure that they are heard, respected and supported

Nominations are open to anyone who works with or for children and young people affected by trafficking, including (but not limited to):

  • Foster carers
